Saving money at the sales

Here is you plan for the sales season
When prices come down, you can save a lot of money. That’s true, but people also spend a lot on shopping in the sales season. Buying at the sales not only benefits you, but the shops also stand to profit. They can sell off their inventories and make room for new products. If you really want to get a good bargain at the sales, there are some points to consider.
Think of shoes, for example: there is a pair you’d like to buy, but they’re too expensive. Wait for the first day of the sales and buy them straight away.
Maybe the pair of shoes you wanted has already been sold – but now that you are here you maybe tempted to buy another, similar pair. After all, they are a lot cheaper too. But you should only buy them if you really want to have them – if not, even the smallest amount of money is too much to spend on them.
Let’s say you have bought an article of clothing that looked great in the shop. But at home you change your mind – maybe it doesn’t fit all that well, or it was too pricey after all. This is a common experience and happens to many people. So if you’re thinking of buying a piece you won’t be able to return and exchange for something else, it’s best to try it on in the shop.
You may have a super budget and know exactly how much you can spend this month. But then you see a sign that says “Discounts up to 70%”, and there you go, straight into the shop. Inside you find that the price tag on everything you like carries a 10% discount at best. And the only stuff you really, really like are the new season’s items, with no reduction at all. Don’t be lured into this trap!
20% off sounds good. If the regular price of a jacket was 40 euros, and you buy it at the sales at a 20% discount, how much do you save? Better do the maths: You save 8 euros. Is the jacket worth 32 euros to you?
In the electronics segment – mobile phones, TV sets, computers – sales are an opportunity to buy excellent products. Think and decide which functions you need in a new device before you go shopping, and you’ll find great bargains. Something that was very expensive just a few months ago may be on sale now at a significant discount. It’s best to buy devices you can use for a long time. If you switch to a newer model very soon you will not have saved any money.
There are times when everything is reduced, for example at the winter and summer end-of-season sales. Always think about why a given product carries a smaller price tag. Perhaps nobody wanted to buy it, or an improved version may be due out soon. But it may also be simple luck, and you have found just what you were looking for. In any case, you should check the quality of the product.
