Fahrplan fürs Sparen

Here is your roadmap for a sale
In times when prices are tumbling, you can save a lot! Yes, but people also spend a lot of money in the sales. Because it's not just you who benefits when you buy a “sale” product, the stores win too. They can clear out their stocks and make room for new products. So if you want to do well in the sale, there are a few points that will help you.
For example, there are shoes that you want to buy, but they are too expensive. Then wait for the first sale and buy them straight away.
Maybe the pair of shoes you wanted has already been sold – but now that you are here you maybe tempted to buy another, similar pair. After all, they are a lot cheaper too. But you should only buy them if you really want to have them – if not, even the smallest amount of money is too much to spend on them.
Let’s say you have bought an article of clothing that looked great in the shop. But at home you change your mind – maybe it doesn’t fit all that well, or it was too pricey after all. This is a common experience and happens to many people. So if you’re thinking of buying a piece you won’t be able to return and exchange for something else, it’s best to try it on in the shop.
You actually have a great money plan and know how much money you can still spend this month. Then you see a sign saying “Up to 70% off” and you go into the store. But everything you like is reduced by 10% at most. You only really like the new things. Don't let yourself be lured into this trap!
20% off sounds good. If the regular price of a jacket was 40 euros, and you buy it at the sales at a 20% discount, how much do you save? Better do the maths: You save 8 euros. Is the jacket worth 32 euros to you?
With cell phones, televisions, computers, ... you can find lots of great things on sale. Think beforehand about what the electrical appliance you want to buy should be able to do and then you'll find great sale products. You can save a lot of money and buy something that was very expensive a few months ago at a very reasonable price. It's best to buy an appliance that you can use for a long time, because if you replace it with a newer one soon, you won't have saved any money.
There are times when everything is reduced, for example at the winter and summer end-of-season sales. Always think about why a given product carries a smaller price tag. Perhaps nobody wanted to buy it, or an improved version may be due out soon. But it may also be simple luck, and you have found just what you were looking for. In any case, you should check the quality of the product.

FAQ

By shopping carefully, comparing prices and only buying what you really need – not just because it’s reduced.
Not all reduced items are exchangeable. It is best to try on clothes directly in the store and find out about the returns policy.
Don’t be dazzled by large percentages. Calculate how much you are actually saving – and whether the reduced price is worth the product to you.
It may soon be replaced by a new model or may have sold poorly. Therefore, pay particular attention to quality and up-to-dateness.
Make a plan of what you need beforehand and stick to it – that way you protect your budget and shop more consciously.
